The semantic diversity of many of the gestures we can find in the Romanesque iconography leads us to suggest the existence of a particular phenomenon: the gesture decontextualization. This phenomenon can be caused by two motives, one of them casual and the other one deliberate. The aim of this paper is to analyse both of them.
