In the nineties, a number of performances - Peter Sellars' Persians, Olivier Py's Requiem pour Srebenica and Groupov' s Rwanda 94 - and of theatrical texts - Gabily's Violences, Lagarce's J'étais dans ma maison etj'attendais que la pluie vienne, and Kermann's La Mastication des marts, explore the problematics of death and disappearance through the use of different modalities of the theatrical chorus.
