Style is affirmation or search for both group identity and individuality. For gays, and contemporary writers, the problem is compounded by its universal dimension, since homosexuality has in common with literature a presence in worlds that reject them, and thus rejects universality. Thus interesting formal solutions it would be difficult to call a "gay style", if specific tones emerge.
