    Between Pouchkine in 1829, adulated in Turkey, and Baudelaire in 1864, 35 years during which the poet “lost his halo”. But the loss of social prestige is not poetry’s end : Baudelaire is also a beginning, and since then poetry has pursued both its specialisation (distinction from drama and novel) and its explorations. These bring it now to a kind of “neoacmeism”, in reference to Mandelstam, centred on language, and both ironically conscious of its limits, and thus discrete and self-effacing, but affirmative.

    Entre Pouchkine, adulé en Turquie en 1829, et Baudelaire en 1864, 35 ans au cours desquels le poète a perdu « son auréole ». Mais la perte de son presige social n’est pas la fin de la poésie : Baudelaire représente aussi un commencement, et depuis la poésie continue tant sa différenciation vis à vis du théâtre et du roman, que ses explorations. Elle en est maintenant à un point de « néo-acméiste » — référence à Mandelstam : poésie centrée sur la langue, et aussi ironique quant à ses possibilités, donc discrète, que poésie de l’affirmation.
