    In 2002, two teams of historians from either side of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict were assigned the job of recounting the Balfour declaration, the 1948 war, and the 1987 Intifada. The resulting book has three columns on each page, either text to the right and left, and a central column for personal annotations. Refused by official education authorities in both countries, the book found its own readership in Arab and Hebrew, and was translated in Italian, German, and French. The French version, prefaced by the historian Vidal-Naquet, starkly opposes the two versions, the central column having been eliminated, and was the object of a multidisciplinary conference in 2006. A presentation of the book by Martin Mégevand is followed by the contributions of Jean-Pierre Klein (psychiatrist and writer), Michel Costantini (semiotician) and Pierre Pachet (writer).

    Deux équipes d'historiens venus de part et d'autre du conflit israélopalestinien furent chargées en 2002 de produire une histoire de la déclaration de Balfour, de la guerre de 1948 et de l'Intifada de 1987. Le livre qui en résulta présentait sur chaque page trois colonnes, à droite et à gauche les textes des historiens, et au centre une colonne pour annoter. Refusé par les instances éducatives des deux nations, le livre a trouvé son lectorat en arabe et hébreu, et été traduit en italien, allemande et français. La version française préfacée par Vidal-Naquet oppose fortement les deux textes autour d'une ligne verticale qui a éliminé la colonne centrale, et fit l'objet d'une conférence multidisciplinaire en 2006. Une présentation du livre par Martin Mégevand est suivie de trois contributions, celles de Jean-Pierre Klein (psychiatre), de Michel Costantini (sémioticien) et de Pierre Pachet (écrivain).
