Después del fin de la guerra fría, en Europa, asistimos a dos fenómenos que dominan el panorama geopolítico: por un lado, la integración, con el avance de la frontera de la Unión Europea (UE) hacia el Este y por el otro, la desintegración, expresada por crisis, tensiones y conflictos en los países situados más allá de dicha frontera. El artículo analiza la geopolítica de la frontera oriental de la UE, situada entre Rumanía, Moldavia, Ucrania centrándose en los flujos migratorios irregulares en dirección Este-Oeste, desencadenada en los noventa y amplificada tras la ampliación de la UE en 2007

After the end of the Cold War in Europe, we are witnessing two phenomena that dominate the geopolitical landscape: first, integration with the advance of the European Union (EU) to the east and on the other, the disintegration, expressed by crises, tensions and conflicts in the countries situated beyond the border. This article examines the geopolitics of the EU�s eastern border, located between Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, focusing on irregular migration flows from east to west, broke out in the nineties and amplified following the enlargement of the EU in 2007.
