    Entre los siglos XVI a XVIII Época de la Colonia los principales rasgos de la educación fueron: la evangelización indígena con unos primeros intentos de instruir a los hijos de los caciques principales, proyecto que luego abandonaron; la fundación de universidades que permitieron discusiones teológicas, filosóficas y científicas en las que se presentó la difícil polémica con la ilustración; las ordenanzas de los virreyes sobre la instrucción de párvulos y la educación femenina en las prácticas religiosas y el canto pero excluidas de los conocimientos eruditos.

    Between the XVI-XVIH centuries - colonial epoch, the main characteristics of education were: the evangelization of the natives witn some first intents to instruct the children of the main chiefs of the tribes, project that was abandon later; the foundation of univesities that permited theological, phylosophical and scientific discussions in which difficult discussions where presented with the Ilustrations, the ordinations of the viceroy about the instruct ion of child and the female education in religious practices and singing but they excluded from the herudite knowledges
