    En el siglo XVI la isla de La Palma fue conocida en Europa por la calidad en la producción de vino y azúcar, y desde entonces los comerciantes ingleses establecieron una ruta marítima para el intercambio de productos entre Inglaterra y las Islas Canarias de gran importancia para la economía insular. Los conflictos bélicos entre Inglaterra y España influyeron en la estabilidad del comercio con periodos de mayor o menor actividad. En el ámbito interno la adaptación religiosa fue uno de los principales obstáculos, superado por la necesidad económica de la población. Mostramos en este artículo un catálogo aproximativo de británicos, vecinos o residentes aplicados al tráfico de mercancías durante los siglos XVII y XVIII.

    In the 16th century the island of La Palma was known in Europe by the quality in the production of wine and sugar, and since then the english merchants established a maritime route for the exchange of products between England and the Canary Islands of great importance for the insular economy.

    The warlike conflicts between England and Spain influenced the stability of the trade with periods of major or minor activity. In the internal area the religious adjustment was one of the principal obstacles, overcome by the economic need of the population. We show in this article an approximate catalogue of britishers, neighbors or residents applied to the traffic of goods during the XVIIth and XVIIIth century.
