Resumen de Mary d'Abel Ferrara: símptomes de la religió en el món contemporani

  The authors of this article, fruit of the course "Religion and democracy" from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, defend that the secularization, understood as the de-consecration of the world and the decline of religions, is more a myth than a reality. From the sociology of religion it is sustained that it is not possible to talk about, in a strict manner, withdrawal from religion, but more like a transformation of the religious experience and of the place occupied by religion in the modern societies. The text re-examines some of these transformations by using as a thread the film Mary by Abel Ferrara. According to the actors, this film is a paradigmatic example of the evocative capacity of the religious themes and of the new ways in which the citizens and the institutions of the western democracies handle and are occupied by the religions.

  Els autors d'aquest article, fruit del curs "Religió i democràcia", de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, defensen que la secularització, entesa com la dessacralització del món i la decadència de les religions, és més un mite que una realitat. Des de la sociologia de la religió se sosté que no es pot parlar, en sentit estricta, d'una retirada de la religió, sinó més aviat d'una transformació de l'experiència religiosa i del lloc que ocupa la religió a les societats modernes. En el text es ressegueixen algunes d'aquestes transformacions tot prenent com a fil conductor la pel.lícula d'Abel Ferrara Mary. Segons els autors, aquest film és un exemple pardigmàtic de la capacitat evocativa dels temes religiosos i de les noves maneres amb què els ciutadans i les institucions de les democràcies occidentals s'ocupen i són ocupats per les religions.
