Estudio histórico sobre los inicios de la Prelatura territorial de Yauyos encomendada por la Santa Sede al Opus Dei y conformada por las Provincias civiles de Yauyos y Huarochirí, en un territorio de los Andes del Perú. El 2 de octubre de 1957, mons. Ignacio María de Orbegozo y Goicoechea, nombrado prelado de Yauyos, tomaba posesión de la Prelatura. Con él marcharon otros cinco sacerdotes de diferentes diócesis españolas, a los que sus ordinarios habían dado permiso para esta nueva tarea pastoral. Acomunaba a todos el hecho de pertenecer a la Sociedad Sacerdotal de la Santa Cruz, asociación intrínsecamente unida al Opus Dei. Con la llegada de nuevos sacerdotes, el trabajo pastoral pudo extenderse por la Prelatura. En el año 1962, se anexionó a la Prelatura la Provincia civil de Cañete. Se fundó el seminario menor, se restauraron iglesias, casas parroquiales, salones comunales, capillas y se crearon centros asistenciales de promoción humana y social. Fueron once años de actividad profunda, intensa y extensa.

History of the Beginnings of the Prelature of Yauyos (Peru) 1957 - 1968. Background and documented memories: Historical study about the beginnings of the Territorial Prelature of Yauyos, entrusted to Opus Dei by the Holy See, and which included the civil provinces of Yauyos and Huarochirí, in a territory of the Andes in Peru. On October 2, 1957, Msgr. Ignacio María de Orbegozo y Goicoechea, elected Prelate of Yauyos, took possession of the Prelature. Five other priests from different Spanish dioceses, who had been given permission by their Ordinaries for this new pastoral task, went with him. They were linked by the fact that they all belonged to the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross, intrinsically united to Opus Dei. With the arrival of new priests, the pastoral work could be extended throughout the Prelature. In 1962 the civil province of Cañete was included in the Prelature. The Minor Seminary was founded; churches, parochial houses, community halls and chapels were restored, and care centers were established for human and social improvement. It was eleven years of profound, intensive and extensive work.
