    El artículo hace un balance de la actuación del Teniente General Francisco Copons y Navia al frente del Primer Ejército de Cataluña (1813-1814) y analiza su papel en el encargo que le hizo la Regencia de recibir al Rey tras su retorno a España. Las intrigas y calumnias contra su persona, consiguieron separarlo del mando en 1814 y tras estar recluido en Sigüenza fue rehabilitado en abril de 1816. Copons y Navia es el prototipo del militar monárquico, partidario del orden, pero respetuoso y leal con las nuevas autoridades nacidas tras la «revolución» de 1808 y con la Constitución de 1812 que había jurado.

    This article takes stock of the performance of Lieutenant-General Francisco Copons y Navia as commander-in-chief of the First Army of Catalonia and it analyzes his role as the person in charge –following the Regency´s orders– of receiving the King after his return to Spain. The intrigues and slanderous rumours spread against him managed to remove him from command in 1814 and, after being imprisoned in Sigüenza, he was rehabilitated in April 1816. Copons y Navia is the prototype of the monarchic military man in favour of the established order, but respectful and loyal to the new authorities born after the 1808 «revolution» and to the Constitution of 1812 that he had sworn.
