El deseo sexual hipoactivo es un trastorno sexual frecuente, sobre todo en las mujeres, que presenta dificultades diagnósticas y terapéuticas. En general, los médicos no saben cómo intervenir ante una paciente que presenta este problema. En el presente artículo se revisan aspectos esenciales del deseo sexual y los factores relacionados con su pérdida, y se propone un método de intervención clínica que permita al médico intervenir sensatamente ante un caso de deseo sexual hipoactivo. Finalmente, se revisan algunos de los fármacos empleados hasta el momento para su tratamiento.
The hypoactive sexual desire is a frequent sexual disorder, especially in women, and presents diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties. In general, doctors do not know how to manage a patient who suffers this problem. In the present article there is a revision of essential aspects of the sexual desire and the factors related to its loss proposing a method of clinical intervention that allows to the doctor to act in a sensible way in a case of hypoactive sexual desire. Finally, there is a revision of some of the drug therapies used up to this moment to treat the disorder.
