In this paper, dependent measures in metacognitive assessment are reviewed. These measures aim to study metacognitive processes involved in task execution. They are characterized by data collected concurrently with the measurement of cognitive activity. Measures used in order to assess monitoring are distinguished from those used to assess control processes . In conclusion, the importance of using both concurrent and independent measures to analyze the conditions of metacognitive knowledge use is highlighted.
