    Innovation and tourism. The role of the accommodation in the development of indexes for territorial analysis. - This paper investigates the relationship between tourism, innovation and territorial development, considering the central role of ac_ commodatlon as one of the main drivers of the competitiveness of a tourism location.

    Innovation in accommodation is therefore conceived in terms of a set of best practices, consisting of products and novel experiences, rather than only in terms of the use of ner.v technologies, as has been the case in most studies of this sector. Innovation expresses a complexity that could be considered a proxy of the development potential of a territory.

    In order to better study innovation phenomena in accommodation, two indices are developed: the IAI (Innovative Accommodation Index), based on a set of componentes expressing the innovative potential of an accommodation unit; and the TIAI (Territor- ial Innovative Accommodation Index), a composite index based on the IAI of a given territory. A first experimental application of the methodology has been carried out to evaluate innovation in the accommodation system of the Municipality of Riccione and extended to other ones in the Romagna area. The preliminary results are interesting and suggest that the indexes are solidly based and can be used io support decision making in tourism policy.

    Innovation et tourisme. Le role de l'accomodation dans le développement.

    de taux pour l'analyse territoriale. - Cet article analyse la relation entre innovation, tourisme et développent territorial en considérant le role centrale de l'accueil comme l'un de plus important moteur de la compétitivité d'une localité touristique. L'innovation dans le système d'hospitalité est concue comme l'ensemble de toute pratique, produit et expérience "nouvelle", en dépassant donc la définition liée à l'adoption de nouvelle technologies ulilisée dans la plupart des études du secteur. L'innovation exprime la complexité et la portée du potentiel de développement territorial. Pour mieux étudier les phénomènes innovants de l'accueil, dans cette riecherche deux taux ont été développés: le IAI (Innovative Accommodation Index), basé sur un ensemble de composantes qui expriment le potentiel innovant d'une unité d'accueil, et le TIAI (Territorial Innovative Accommodation Index),basé sur les IAI d'un territoire. Une première application expérimentale de la méthodologie a évalué l'innovation dans le système hotelier de la Municipalité de Riccione et étendu à d'autres municipalités dans la Romagna. Les résultats préliminaires sont intéressants et positifs, supportant l'hypothèse que ces taux sont cohérents et utilisables dans l'analyse territoriale préalable aux choix de politique du tourisme.
