Tratamiento de la osteonecrosis: actualización

    El tratamiento más habitual de la osteonecrosis de cabeza femoral es la artroplastia total de cadera, que implantada en pacientes jóvenes como los afectados por esta patología, supone una limitación funcional en sujetos en edad activa así como la necesidad de una cirugía de revisión en un plazo de tiempo. El diagnóstico habitualmente tardío de la enfermedad y la evolución de la necrosis de la cabeza femoral en función de la extensión y localización, hace difícil realizar protocolos terapéuticos distintos a la artroplastia. En el presente artículo se presentan las distintas opciones terapéuticas para la osteonecrosis, exceptuando la artroplastia de cadera. El conocimiento de estos tratamientos nos permitirá adecuarlos a los distintos estadios de la enfermedad en función de los pacientes.

    Nowadays, the most usual treatment for osteonecrosis of femoral head is the total hip arthroplasty, that implanted in young patients, the most usual patients affected from this disease; it means a reduction f the physical activity of the patients and sentences them to a revision surgery in the long term. The diagnosis of the illness in latest stages and the differences in the femoral head depending on the affected area and necrosis location makes difficult to carry out therapeutical protocols different from the arthroplasty. The present article presents the different therapeutical alternatives for osteonecrosis, pharmacological, biophysical or surgical, except for hip arthroplasty. The knowledge of these new treatments allows to adequate the osteonecrosis treatment to different stages of the illness, as well as for different kinds of patients.
