Resumen de Euskaldunon Egunkaria: diario de referencia de la cultura vasca

  El 20 de febrero de 2003 el juez de la Audiencia Nacional de Madrid, Juan del Olmo, decretó el cierre del diario Euskaldunon Egunkaria, bajo la acusación de formar parte del entramado de ETA. Euskaldunon Egunkaria llevaba doce años en circulación y era el único escrito íntegramente en lengua vasca en todo el mundo. Los autores del presente trabajo sostienen que Euskaldunon Egunkaria fue un periódico estándar, europeo, además de testigo y actor destacado de la cultura vasca. Los autores avalan su afirmación aportando datos tanto cuantitativos como cualitativos derivados de tres estudios: el análisis de 100 noticias aparecidas en su primera página, la recopilación de índices de calidad y el examen en profundidad de los 3.789 números editados.

  2003ko otsailaren 20an, Madrilgo Audientzia Nazionaleko epaile Juan del Olmok Euskaldunon Egunkaria kazetaren itxiera erabaki zuen, ETAren zati zela argudiatuz. Egunkari honek hamabi urte pasatxo zeramatzan kalean eta mundu osoan euskara hutsez argitaratzen zen bakarra zen. Lan honen egileen aburuz, Euskaldunon Egunkaria kazeta estandarra, europarra eta euskal kulturarentzat oso erreferente baliagarria izan zen. Ondorio hori ondorengo hiru ikerketa kuantitatibo eta kualitatiboetan oinarritu dute: kazetako lehen orrialdean agertutako 100 albisteen azterketan, kalitate-adierazle objektiboen bilketan eta argitaratutako 3.789 zenbakien azterketa sakonean.

  On 20 February 2003, Juan del Olmo, a judge in the High Court in Madrid, decreed the closure of the Euskaldunon Egunkaria newspaper on the grounds that it formed part of the "apparatus of ETA". Euskaldunon Egunkaria had been in circulation for twelve years, and was the only newspaper wholly written in Basque in the world. The authors of this work maintain that Euskaldunon Egunkaria was a standard European newspaper and an outstanding witness of and actor in Basque culture. The authors endorse this statement by providing both quantitative and qualitative data originating from three studies: an analysis of 100 news items appearing on the paper's front pages, a compilation of quality indexes, and an in- depth examination of the 3,789 issues published.
