As Causas da Sazonlidade do Turismo: a Visao da Oferta Turística Algarvia

    The tourism seasonality is the fluctuation of the tourism activities during the year. The determinative factors of this phenomenon had been specified by investigators on the basis of the studies in determined regions. In the case of the tourist suppliers, classified as the seven tourism characteristic products by the Portugal Tourism Satellite Account, the causes can be distinct, depending on the business of each type of supplier. The knowledge of the causes of the tourism seasonality for each type of tourist supplier is essential to the management of seasonality. The natural cause, by the climate factor, cannot be representative for the lodging, whereas for the leisure services this is the main cause. In such a way, this investigation analyzed the tourist supplier of the Algarve region with the intention to verify the principal cause of the seasonality and if this cause is the same or if is not the same for each tourist supplier.

    A sazonalidade do turismo é a flutuação do nível de actividade (turística) durante o ano. Os factores determinantes deste fenómeno foram especificados por investigadores com base nos estudos em determinadas regiões. No caso da oferta turística, classificada conforme os sete produtos característicos do turismo para a Conta Satélite do Turismo em Portugal, as causas podem ser distintas, dependendo do negócio de cada tipo de oferta. O conhecimento das causas da sazonalidade do turismo para cada tipo de oferta turística é imprescindível para a busca da gestão da sazonalidade. A causa natural, pelo factor clima, pode não ser representativa para a actividade alojamento enquanto para os serviços de lazer esta é a principal causa. Desta forma, procurou-se investigar a oferta turística da região do Algarve para verificar qual a principal causa da sazonalidade junto a estas empresas e se esta causa é a mesma para todas ou se há diferentes causas para cada tipo de oferta turística.
