    Este artículo trata de establecer una fuente bíblica válida para una escena crucial en el Cantar de Mio Cid: el momento en que el rey Alfonso VI perdona al Campeador y, con esta acción, da fin al exilio del héroe. La fuente bíblica, Lucas 15, 20-24, ayuda a explicar el significado de este emotivo pasaje del Cantar y podría también haber influido en un segundo fragmento del famoso poema castellano.

    This article attempts to establish a valid biblical source for a crucial scene in the Cantar de Mio Cid: the moment when King Alfonso VI forgives the Campeador and, with this action, brings the exile of the hero to an end. The biblical source, Luke 15: 20-24, helps to explain the meaning of this moving episode of the Cantar and also may have influenced a second fragment of the famous Castilian poem.
