Los sones frente a los medios de comunicación

    La influencia del proceso de globalización en las manifestaciones artísticas tradicionales ha alterado algunos de sus rasgos que se tenían por más característicos, como la autoría anónima o la transmisión oral. En el caso específico de los sones de México, se han observado cambios notorios como consecuencia de la relación de los músicos que practican estos géneros con medios como la radio, la industria fonográfica o, más recientemente, Internet. Entre tales cambios se mencionan, por parte de las letras de los sones: su fijación definitiva para versiones grabadas, a diferencia de las asociaciones libres que tradicionalmente han tenido, y la actitud de los autores actuales de letras, que reclaman su identidad individual frente a la tradición anónima y recurren a temas y figuras poéticas muy diversos de los tradicionales. Y los cambios musicales se reflejan en toda la música del mundo a la que los soneros tienen acceso ahora, que han llevado a muchos de ellos a experimentar con ritmos y lenguajes armónicos de otras regiones y hasta de otras épocas históricas.

    The influence of the globalization process on traditional artistic manifestations has changed several of their most characteristic features, for example, their anonymity or the fact that they are orally transmitted. In the specific case of Mexico's sones -the folkloric song and dance-, evident changes have been noticed as a consequence of the relationship between the people who perform this musical genre, and media such as the radio, the phonographic industry and, in recent times, Internet. Among these changes, those related to the lyrics of the sones are: the definite establishment of versions that will be recorded in discs, instead of the free associations established by the tradition, and the attitude of present writers of lyrics who claim their individual identity vis-a-vis the anonymity, making use of poetic figures and themes that break with the tradition. On the other hand, as to the musical changes, the present performers of sones have now a wide access to world music, which leads them to experimentation with rhythms and harmonic patterns from all over the world, and even from different historical periods.
