La discapacidad intelectual, desde una perspectiva antropológica, es mas bien un estigma cultural cambiante en tiempo y espacio, que un estado natural de una persona. Ese estigma se convierte en discapacidad real mediante procesos de transmisión y adquisición de cultura. El teatro entendido como un arte social transcultural proporciona herramientas para combatir ese estigma en el plano de la persona afectada y su entorno micro y macro social.
The mental impairment from an anthropological point of view seems to be more a cultural stigma which changes in space and time than a natural disease of a person. But this stigma converts to a real impairment during the process of transmission and "acquisition" of culture. Theatre understood as a social and transcultural art proportions concrete, cultural tools to combat this stigma at the level of the affected person, his social environment and the concepts of society as a hole.
