El ritual, en el contexto de la religiosidad popular, es un elemento fundamental en la cohesión y reproducción cultural de una comunidad. Para que éste sea posible, son necesarios muchísimos aspectos prácticos-materiales que requieren una organización social minuciosa y bien clarificada. Las mayordomías -con su compleja red de relaciones sociales- proveen esos aspectos y posibilitan de manera material la irrupción en el mundo real de las concepciones abstractas existentes en la cosmovisión, formando un complejo sistema estructurado y coherente que facilita la identificación de los individuos con su pueblo, llevando a la cohesión social y ayudando a la reproducción cultural.

The ritual, in the context of the popular religiousness, is a fundamental element in the cohesion and cultural reproduction of a community. In order that this one be possible, there are necessary many practical -material aspects that need a social meticulous and clarified well organization. The religious stewardships -with their complex network of social relations- provide these aspects and make possible the irruption in the real world of the abstract conceptions present into the cosmovision, in this way helping to form a complex constructed and coherent system that facilitates the identification of the individuals with their people, leading to the social cohesion and helping to the cultural reproduction.
