The archaeological intervention carried out in the site located at num. 84 Calle Páganos in Laguardia has uncovered two storage silos of early medieval origin, dating from a period prior to the granting of the town’s charter (during the 12th century). We therefore have enough information to talk about the existence of a pre-charter village located on Laguardia hill. Furthermore, evidence has been found of structures related to wine making, one of the activities that characterises this Rioja Alavesan town, and a practice documented since (at least) the start of the modern era.
