Resumen de Primera cita del murciélago de Nathusius "Pipistrellus nathusii" (Keyserling y Blasius, 1839) para las Islas Baleares

  Dentro del marco de un estudio de quirópteros desarrollado en el Parque Natural de La Albufera de Mallorca (Isla de Mallorca), en el que se han identificado 11 especies pertenecientes a este orden, se ha registrado por primera vez en el archipiélago balear al murciélago de Nathusius ("Pipistrellus nathusii"). Mediante el empleo de redes finas, se capturó un ejemplar hembra al que se le tomó la biometría, se le extrajo piel del plagiopatagio para análisis de ADN mitocondrial y se fotografiaron los incisivos superiores para despejar cualquier duda sobre su correcta determinación específica. Esta nueva cita eleva a 19 el número de especies de quirópteros en las islas Baleares, y pone de manifiesto la necesidad de invertir un mayor esfuerzo en el conocimiento de este orden en la región con vistas a su conservación.

  We have conducted a bat diversity study in La Albufera Natural Park (Majorca Island). We have verified the presence of a total of eleven different bat species within the protected area. In the framework of this study we have detected for the first time the presence of the Nathusius' pipistrelle ("Pipistrellus nathusii"), being the first record for the species in Majorca Island and the Balearic Archipelago. A single female of this species was measured, wing-punched and photogaphs of upper teeth were taken before releasing it to back up its taxonomic identification. This finding rises up to nineteen the number of bat species founded in the Balearic Archipelago and evidences the need to pay more attention and investment to this kind of work in order to achieve complete estimate of the biodiversity of this group of mammals and promote realistic measures to guarantee its conservation.
