On October 6, 2008 the Karolinska Intstitute was publicizing the grant of the Nobel Prize 2008 on Physiology or Medicine to Harald zur Hausen (German Cancer Research Centre, Heidelberg) "for his discovery of human papilloma viruses causing cervical cancer" and to Françoise Barré-Sinoussi (Virology Department, Pasteur Institute, Paris) and to Luc Montagnier (World Foundation for AIDS and Prevention, Paris) "for their discovery of human immunodeficiency virus".
