Resumen de La morbidez de los textos: literatura y enfermedad en el fin de siglo

El objetivo de este trabajo es esbozar algunos de los elementos más relevantes en las relaciones entre el discurso médico y el discurso literario en el fin de siglo. Conceptos como patológico, desviado, anormal, enfermo, devienen omnipresentes en el ámbito literario. Este fenómeno resulta muy significativo en distintas áreas: en la interpretación de la historia literaria y la crítica literaria -uso de lo enfermo como concepto de valoración estético-; en la reconstrucción de la teoría literaria -uso de la genialidad patológica como ideal artístico- y en los análisis sociológicos de la literatura -uso de la enfermedad como tema o motivo que refuerza o subvierte el ideal normativo dependiendo de la orientación ideológica de los textos-.

The aim of this work is to outline some aspects of the relationship between medical and literary discourse in the fin-de-siècle culture. Concepts such as sickness, pathological, devious or abnormal became omnipresent in the literary field; this fact is meaningful in the analysis of different areas: the interpretation of literary history and literary criticism -the use of illness as an aesthetic concept of valuation-; the reconstruction of literary theory -the use of the pathological genius as an artistic ideal- and the sociological approach to the literary works -the use of illness as a topic which reinforces or subverts the normative ideal depending on the ideological orientation of the texts.
