Resumen de La apropiación simbólica como forma de poder: la necesaria y temida alteridad entre los wichí del Chaco argentino

  En las sociedades wichí la máxima alteridad se establece mediante una oposición radical entre el mundo de los vivos y el mundo de los muertos. En estas sociedades la alteridad cosmológica se caracteriza por presentar un gran poder con intenciones malignas hacia la sociedad wichí. Estas características hacen que la alteridad genere peligro y temor en las comunidades wichí. Por ello los wichí desarrollan comportamientos que se podrían denominar «preventivos» en el sentido de que intentan evitar el contacto con la alteridad. Sin embargo, en determinados contextos como en el shamanismo o en las guerras del pasado, la alteridad se buscaba de forma intencional justamente por su gran despliegue de potencia, poder y capacidad de destrucción. El presente artículo analiza los mecanismos de apropiación simbólica en el pasado (profundizando en el vínculo alteridad/ poder en las instituciones shamánicas y guerreras) y en el presente (considerando la alteridad en el sistema de relaciones políticas y económicas).

  In Wichí societies the maximum otherness is established by a radical opposition between the world of the living and the world of the dead. In these societies cosmological otherness is characterized by a great power with evil intentions towards Wichí society. These characteristics make otherness creates danger and fear in Wichí communities. It is because the Wichí develop behaviours that could be called «preventive» in the sense that they are trying to avoid contact with otherness. However, in certain contexts as in shamanism or in the past wars otherness was intentionally sought precisely because of its great deployment of power and destructive capacity. This article analyses the mechanisms of symbolic appropriation in the past (deepening the link «otherness» / power in the shamanic and warfare institutions) and in the present (considering otherness in the system of political and economic relations).
