Se describe e ilustra una especie nueva de Byttneria sección Crassipetala (Malvaceae s.l) del estado Falcón, Venezuela como Byttneria wingfieldii check for this species in other resources Rondón. Esta especie es semejante a B. aculeata (Jacq.) Jacq., y B. aurantiaca Mildbr., de las cuales se diferencia principalmente por la forma, coloración y tipo pubescencia de la porción distal de los pétalos. Se presenta una clave para identificar las especies de esta sección presentes en Venezuela.

A new species of Byttneria Crassipetala section (Malvaceae s.l) from the state Falcon, Venezuelais described and illustratedas Byttneria wingfieldii check for this species in other resources Rondón. This species is similar to B. aculeata (Jacq.) Jacq. and to B. aurantiaca Mildbr., that differs from them mainly by the shape, color and pubescence type of the distal portion of the petals. A key to identify the species of this section in Venezuela is included.
