La figura de Pascual de Gayangos es clave para España por muchos aspectos. Como orientalistas tenemos una referencia en Gayangos, también por distintos motivos. De su personalidad poliédrica, y como investigador de la historia del Orientalismo en España, trato aquí de indagar en la importancia de su trabajo en nuestros inicios en esta ciencia y como su biblioteca, aun hoy, y repartida en distintas instituciones, sigue siendo un elemento de trabajo importantísimo. En este sentido, este artículo tiene dos "anexos": un listado de alguno de sus manuscritos claves en nuestras investigaciones, y la bibliografía relacionada, tanto la de su época como la surgida a partir de su biblioteca

The figure of Pascual de Gayangos is very important for Spain in a lot of senses. As orientalists we have in Gayangos a reference, also for different reasons. From his different personality, and as orientalism history researcher I would like to talk about the importance of his work at the beginning of this science in Spain and about his library, today a reference for the people who work on this science. To this effect, two appendices are attached: the first about some of his manuscrits and the second about bibliography related to his library.
