Se estudian las diversas fuentes que hacen referencia a arcos de instrumentos graves en España durante los siglos XVII a XIX, tanto escritas como iconográficas. Se establecen diversas conclusiones en torno al estilo interpretativo con el arco en estos instrumentos, que no parecen diferir con lo sucedido en otros lugares de Europa. Se señala el importante cambio estético que se opera en la interpretación con los bajos de arco más grandes desde los últimos años del siglo XVIII, un cambio en el que el tipo de arco jugó un papel fundamental.

We study different sources that refer to archs of deep instruments in Spain from the 17th to the 19th centuries, both written and iconographic. Several conclusions are established with reference to the interpretative style with the arch in these instruments, which seem not to differ much from what happened in other places in Europe. The important aesthetical change suffered in the interpretation with the biggest arch low tones since the latter years of the 18th century is highlighted, a change in which the type of arch played a major role.
