    El artículo propone un acercamiento al mundo del arte y los artistas plásticos en el seno del Judaísmo europeo de fines del siglo XIX y primera mitad del siglo XX. Analiza algunas de las ideas y temas reflejados en la obra de arte, fruto tanto de las presiones del entorno como de las propias circunstancias socioculturales de esta comunidad religiosa y que acaban conduciendo al artista a una posición ambivalente respecto a su obra y su papel.

    In this anide we examine the world of art in general and the plastic arts in particular in the European Jewish community of the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. We analyse some of the main ideas and topics represented, which were the result both of social pressures and of the socio-cultural characteristics of this religious community and which led to the artist's assuming an ambivalcnt posture vis-á-vis his work and his role.
