    La intervención de comerciantes castellanos, ingleses, franceses e italianos instalados en Cartagena en el tráfico con Orán muestra una faceta poco estudiada hasta ahora del comercio del Levante español, así como su conexión con Madrid y los comerciantes de esta ciudad, como los portugueses. Por otra parte, cabe destacar la variedad de tipos de agentes y actividades que se daban en este tráfico.
