    • The article "Immigration and entrepreneurial learning during the early industrialisation of Uruguay, 1875/1930" is part of a long-term research -developed along two decades- on the role of European immigration in the building of urban entrepreneurs in Uruguay. In these pages the author deals with immigration contribution to the birth of an entrepreneurial culture based on file documents and a database on 300 entrepreneurs of the sector. Somehow, key guidelines of this process are defined: point of departure regions; previous qualification in the country of origin; labour insertion according to the qualification and experience; saving, independent establishment and continuity in the business; among other aspects of qualitative and quantitative assessment. Other subjects such as autodidacts; the enterprise as training space for workers; the role of those employers in innovation and novelty adaptation processes and inventions applied to industry; their performance as teachers of the replacement generation in enterprise's direction.
