Resumen de Gallego-portugués, iberorromance: la "fala" en su contexto románico peninsular

  Este artículo aborda algunas cuestiones de actualidad en relación con la fala de Xálima en su marco iberorrománico, y más concretamente gallego-portugúes. Cuestiones como el nombre de tal entidad lingüística, hablada en el enclave de San Martín de Trevejo, Eljas y Valverde del Fresno (a fala, a fala de Xálima u otros glotónimos), la conciencia lingüística de sus hablantes, la identificación de sus hablas como "gallego de Cáceres (o de Extremadura)" desde Galicia (reintegracionismo a la inversa, lo llamo), la diversidad de miradas que concita el enclave entre los representantes de la filología (la diversidad de los lingüistas). Las dificultades que plantea su normativización me llevan a confrontar su historia reciente y sus expectativas de supervivencia y preservación de identidad con otros dos enclaves romances de frontera de la Europa occidental, el aranés y el mirandés.

  The present article tackles certain topical questions concerning the fala de Xálima (Galician spoken in Extremadura) in relation to Ibero- Romance, with special reference to Galician-Portuguese. The questions involve what name to attach to this linguistic variety, spoken in the enclave of San Martín de Trevejo, Eljas and Valverde del Fresno (a fala, a fala de Xálima, or other possible labels), the linguistic awareness of the speakers, the identification of their speech varieties from Galicia as "the Galician of Cáceres (or Extremadura)" (which I would refer to as "inverted reintegrationism"), and the various opinions about the territory held among linguists.The difficulties posed by standardization of these local varieties have led me to compare their recent history, and expectations of survival and conservation of identity, with another two frontier enclaves of Romance in Western Europe:

  Aranese and Mirandese.
