When the relationship of a poet with his work reaches its golden anniversary, especially since it is as extensive and cherished as that of Gilberto Mendonça Teles, it is difficult not to fall into the repetition of what criticism has made topical. I prefer, therefore, to renounce the informative register and propose the analysis of two poems whose titles suggest belonging to a traditional lyrical universe: «O Anjo» and «Memória», from the books Sintaxe Invisível (which brings together poems written between 1962 and 1967) and A raiz da fala (poems written between 1965 and 1970), respectively.
