    El presente artículo indaga sobre la experiencia formativa en Europa del historiador y sociólogo uruguayo Carlos M. Rama durante la década de los años cincuenta. Él fue uno de los escasos eslabones de la época entre la historiografía francesa, española y latinamericana, e intentó fomentar los contactos internacionales para sacar a Latinoamérica de lo que él consideraba que era su reducido ámbito. Experto conocedor de la historia de España y de Lationamérica, e interesado por la sociología y la historiografía, Carlos Rama, regresará a Europa décadas más tarde, huyendo de las dictaduras militares impuestas en el Cono Sur.

    This article investigates the formative experience in Europe of the Uruguayan historian and sociologist Carlos M. Rama during the 1950's. Back then, was one of the few links between the French, Spanish and Latin American historiography, and he tried to promote the international contacs to remove Latin America from what he belived has its reduced scope.
