Tras constatar el relegamiento de los estudios sobre América Latina en los planes de formación de los cientistas sociales en la región, este ensayo ofrece una exposición de temas y variables que ponen de manifiesto la significativa importancia de volver a hacer de América Latina un objeto teórico. Desde la economía a los temas sociales, superando su consideración como un área más, como ocurre en la moda impuesta en universidades estadounidenses, la problematización de la región, integrada al sistema mundial capitalista, abre pistas para comprender los nudos que atraviesan su presente y sus futuras tendencias.

After verifying that the studies on Latin America was relegated in the formation programs of the social scientists in the region, this essay offers an exposition of themes and variables that show the significant importance of doing again Latin America a theoretical object. From the economy to the social themes, overcoming to considerate it only as an additional area, as occurs in the imposed fashion in American Universities, the problematization of the region, integrated to the world capitalist system, opens trails to understand the knots that cross its present and its future tendencies.
