    O presente trabalho trata de tres aspectos ligados aos estudos medievais no Brasil: 1) a necessidade de reconhecer a medieval na da e as suas continuidades ao longo dos séculos XVI-XXI; 2) a que nos legou a primeira fase de desenvolvimento des ses estudos no país; e 3) a atual dos estudos medievais no Brasil, as dificuldades que ainda encontram e as que se podem fazer para o futuro.

    The present study deals with three aspects related to the medieval studies in Brazil: 1) the need to recognize the medieval contribution on the formation of the nation, and its continuities through the 161h_21 th centuries; 2) the legacy that we received from the first phase of development of these studies in the country; 3) the present situation of the medieval studies in Brazil, the difficulties they still face, and the projections that can be made as to the future.
