    Los hamippoi atenienses eran auxiliares de los jinetes en el combate ecuestre. Agarrados como podían a los caballos (crines, colas, etc.), atacaban los del enemigo a pie, hiriéndolos con gran riesgo de sus vidas. Indagamos sobre el vínculo que les unía al guerrero y los comparamos con los hispanos que, según Estrabón III, 4, 18, comparten la monta de un caballo.

    The Athenian hamippoi were assistants of the riders in the equestrian combat. Grabbing the mane or tail of the horses as they could, they attacked those of their enemies on foot, hurting them to a great danger of their lives. We search about the link that joined them to the warrior and we compare them to the Hispanics who, according to strabo III, 4, 18, shared the mounting of a horse.
