Resumen de T-learning for social inclusion

  Este artículo se centra en las investigaciones llevadas a cabo en relación con las aplicaciones del t-learning. Aborda, en especial, temas vinculados a la fractura digital y la inclusión social, así como las características más destacadas del t-learning.

  También informa sobre las principales pruebas provenientes del proyecto BEACON, financiado por la última convocatoria del VI Programa Marco. BEACON (consorcio brasileño y europeo para servicios de TDT) es un innovador proyecto de investigación de tres años sobre la televisión digital terrestre, que tiene tres principales objetivos:

  * Desarrollar la interoperabilidad entre los estándares de la televisión digital terrestre europea (DVB) y los de la brasileña (SBTVD).

  * Estudiar una metodología para el aprendizaje a distancia mediante televisión digital.

  * Ofrecer servicios de t-learning vinculados a la inclusión social en São Paulo (Brasil).

  El término t-learning se puede relacionar con la obtención de materiales, contenidos y servicios de formación interactivos mediante un descodificador digital. La usabilidad del t-learning y su capacidad para difundirse con más facilidad que el e-learning abren nuevas perspectivas para una docencia dirigida a un mayor número de posibles usuarios, tanto en la enseñanza formal como en la no formal. El desarrollo real del sistema y aplicaciones del t-learning se basa en la integración de las posibilidades y funcionalidades tanto de la televisión digital terrestre como del e-learning, en especial para incrementar la interactividad, lo que favorece la aparición de comunidades de aprendizaje virtuales más implicadas.

  La creación de nuevos servicios de valor añadido que utilizan la tecnología de difusión de vídeo digital terrestre (DBV-T) permitirá llegar a un mayor número de usuarios finales. El principal objetivo es ofrecer servicios de formación a usuarios que no pueden acceder por motivos culturales o económicos a una conexión a Internet ni a un ordenador pero que sí tienen un televisor, y darles la oportunidad de adquirir conocimientos en numerosos ámbitos, lo que mejorará su nivel de competitividad laboral. En un futuro, las nuevas plataformas de transmisión digital contribuirán a la diversidad de medios de comunicación en muchos países, a la vez que ampliarán la oferta de actividades de formación y servicios gubernamentales y culturales para los ciudadanos de estos países.

  This paper focuses on research themes related to t-learning applications. It particularly deals with digital divide and social inclusion issues and the most relevant features of t-learning. It reports also the main evidences arising from the Beacon project, funded on the last call of the 6th framework program. BEACON (Brazilian European Consortium for DTT Services) is a three years innovative research project on Digital Terrestrial Television with three core objectives:

  - the development of interoperability between the European (DVB) and the Brazilian (SBTVD) Digital Terrestrial Television standards;

  - the study of a methodology for distance learning through digital television; and - the delivery of t-learning services related to social inclusion in Sao Paulo, Brasil.

  The term t-learning can be related to the fruition of interactive training materials, contents and services using a digital decoder. The t-learning usability features and their ability to spread on a lager scale than eLearning open up new scenarios for teaching addressed to a broader number of potential users, in terms of both formal and non formal training. The real development of the t-learning system and its applications is based on the integration of the opportunities and functionalities of both Digital Terrestrial Television and eLearning, especially in terms of increasing interactivity, bringing up opportunities for more engaged learning and virtual communities.

  The development of new value added services based on the Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial (DVB-T) technology will make it possible to address a large amount of end users. The main goal is to offer learning services to users that can`t afford for economic or cultural causes an internet connection and a PC, but are TV owners, and to let them acquire knowledge in many sectors, favouring the improvement of their working competitiveness. The new digital broadcasting platforms will contribute to media diversity in many countries future and will increase the possibility of learning activities and governmental and cultural services for citizens
