Avifauna de Patatlaán en la Sierra Madre del Sur, Guerrero, México

    Se presenta el listado de las aves de Petatlán, localidad perteneciente a la Sierra Madre del Sur, Guerrero, México. El trabajo de campo se realizó de julio a octubre de 2003 mediante recolectas, detección visual y auditiva.

    Un total de 69 especies fueron registradas, de las cuales la mayor riqueza se observó en el bosque tropical caducifolio, seguido por el bosque de encino-pino y cultivos de maíz. Las aves residentes representan 81.1% de la avifauna total y las migratorias 18.8 %. Siete especies son endémicas y dos cuasiendémicas a México. Con base en la NOM-ECOL-059-2001, una especie está amenazada y cinco se encuentran sujetas a protección especial. Cuatro especies representan registros notables debido a su rareza en la región, confirmando su presencia en la zona. La avifauna registrada incluye el 13% de la avifauna estatal, lo que destaca la relevancia de esta región y una urgente necesidad de establecer estrategias de manejo para su conservación.

    A list of the birds of Petatlán, in the Sierra Madre del Sur, Guerrero, Mexico, is presented. Field work was carried out from July to October 2003 and included specimen collection, and visual and aural detection. We recorded 69 species, with the greatest species richness in the tropical deciduous forest, followed by the oak-pine forest and the corn crops. Resident birds represented 81.1% and migrant birds 18.8% of all the birds. Seven species are endemic and two are cuasi-endemic to Mexico. According to the NOM-ECOL-059-2001, one species is threatened and five are under special protection. Four species represent noteworthy records due to their rarity in the region, and their presence in the area is confirmed with this study. The avifauna recorded includes 13% of the state avifauna, indicating the relevance of this region and the urgent need to establish conservation management strategies.
