El presente artículo reseña las características fundamentales de la estética medieval. Con ello, pretende poner de manifiesto lo injustificado de las acusaciones de oscurantismo, a la par que reivindicar su relevancia para la historia general de la cultura. La estética medieval, asimismo, también nos ayuda a comprender mejor la manera de ver la realidad de una época que todavía hoy permanece excesivamente ignorada.
