  • Am Beginn der deutschen Aufklärungskomödie steht Luise Adelgunde Victorie Gottscheds Pietisterey im Fischbein-Rocke (1736). Das Stück überträgt die Satire gegen den Jansenismus einer französischen Vorlage auf die Religionsstreitigkeiten zwischen Pietisten und orthodoxen Lutheranern in Deutschland. Außerdem kritisiert es die Anmaßungen pseudogelehrter Frauen. Der folgende Beitrag stellt Form, Inhalt und Quelle der Komödie vor, erläutert ihren historischen Hintergrund und bemüht sich um eine angemessene Bewertung.

    Luise Adelgunde Victorie Gottsched's Pietisterey im Fischbein-Rocke (1736) stands at the beginning of German Enlightenment comedy. The play translates the satirical attack against Jansenism of its French model into the religious quarrels between Pietists and orthodox Lutherans in Germany. Besides, the comedy criticises the presumptions of pretentiously learned women. The following essay introduces the form, contents and sources of the comedy, elucidates its historical background and seeks an appropriate evaluation.
