    Esta investigación sobre el gaitanismo y el 9 de abril constituye una revisita actualizada y crítica, con base en la abundante documentación historiográfica existente, de la conformación de la movilización social gaitanista, el papel de su líder Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, el significado de su asesinato y la caracterización del complejo proceso de insurrección y levantamiento popular en Bogotá y en distintas regiones y ciudades de Colombia. Estudiada como el suceso de historia política de Colombia más importante del siglo xx, esta movilización se ubica en sus contextos internacionales y en el entramado de la gran complejidad sociopolítica en que se conformó el movimiento gaitanista.

    This research on Gaitanismo and the events of April 9 is an updated critical review based on the wealth of historiographic documentation about the emergence of the Gaitanista social mobilization, the role of its leader, Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, the meaning of his murder, and the characterization of the complex process of insurrection and popular uprising in Bogota and other Colombian regions and cities. The article places what has been considered as the most important event of Colombia�s political history in the XXth century in its international context and in the complex sociopolitical web in which the Gaitanista movement was created.
