El romance nativo del Valle del Ebro y de la "frontera superior" de Al-Andalus

    Se esbozan en este artículo los principales rasgos fonológicos de la modalidad romance nativa (en términos tradicionales, del �mozárabe�) del Valle del Ebro y del pre-Aragón no reconquistado, esto es, hasta las tierras bajas turolenses fronterizas con el Reino de Valencia y la Cataluña meridional. A partir de un elenco de fuentes en que ocupan un papel fundamental los materiales árabes de tipo onomástico (toponímico y antroponímico), pero también las fuentes latinas antiguas, se procede a una descripción de los hechos centrales y más catacterizadores del vocalismo (diptongación de breves, apócope vs. conservación de átonas finales, monoptongación de diptongos decrecientes) y del consonantismo. A partir de este cuerpo de datos, se postula la escasa oposición formal entre dicha modalidad autóctona y el aragonés primigenio septentrional.

    This article presents the main phonological characters of the native romance modality (in traditional terms, of the �mozarab�) from the Ebro Valley and pre-Aragon before the Spanish Reconquest, that is to say, until the lowlands of Teruel bordering the Kingdom of Valencia and the southern Catalonia. From a variety of sources which are mainly constituted by onomastical muslim materials (toponymical and antroponymical), but also by the ancient Latin sources, it proceeds to a description of the most characteristic traits of the vocalism (diphtongization of brief vowels, loss vs. conservation of non accentuated final vowels, monophtongization of the decreasing diphtongs) and the consonantism.

    From all this information, we can defend the theory of the low opposition between this indigenous modality and the northern original Aragonese.
