Resumen de La imagen cinematográfica de Franco

José María García Escudero

  • The image and personality of Franco was the one element that would remain constant for the entire duration of the regime. His political model lacked the clear ideology found in other totalitarian regimes. In fact, rather than mobilizing the masses which was preferred by other regimes, Franco preferred to immobilize them.

Franco well represented the values of moderation, and expressed these ideas in his book Raza. Yet, in 1953 the official State news documentary, the NO-DO, presented an image of Franco that would be most fully developed in the film Franco, ese hombre (which commemorated twenty five years of peace), namely, that of a kind, grandfatherly old man, while still maintaining his image of military man and head of state.
