    Hace 50 años, el lanzamiento soviético casi por sorpresa, del satélite artificial Sputnik, sacudió los medios de comunicación y las esferas políticas. Era el resultado de una larga trayectoria de contribuciones a la historia de la aeronáutica iniciada tras la revolución bolchevique y marcaba el inicio de la carrera espacial. En este artículo, el autor muestra los precedentes y las reacciones que suscitó este hecho histórico.

    More than 50 years ago, the launched by the Soviet Union of the Sputnik man-made satellite took the media and the political world by storm. It was the result of a long saga of contributions to the history of Aeronautics and that began after the Bolshevik Revolution marked the beginning of the space race. In this article, the author shows the precedents and the reactions that led to this historic event.
