In a recent issue of TREE, Wilson and Franklin [ 1. ] discuss the adaptive significance of acclimation, with particular attention to the beneficial acclimation hypothesis (BAH) and with a focus on temperature. They conclude that most tests of the functional benefit of the BAH are not direct tests of acclimation, but instead analyses of the adaptive significance of developmental plasticity.
