  El artículo aborda el papel del maestro, el encargado de introducir el lenguaje escrito y la lectura, en el desarrollo del lenguaje. Para ello ha de conseguir el clima adecuado mediante la estimulación lingüística conveniente con el fin de que el niño encuentre placer en la lectoescritura. Se plantea la necesidad de una intervención planificada que defina los objetivos lingüísticos y los lleve a cabo. Los programas de lenguaje deben completar la actividad de la clase y no sustituirla, adaptándose al ritmo escolar. El maestro, con la formación adecuada, debe planificar este proceso mediante la observación de la evolución de las adquisiciones lingüísticas de cada niño. Otra forma de estimular el desarrollo del lenguaje es aumentar las ocasiones de hablar con los adultos y de ser escuchados. Se propone la participación voluntaria de adultos colaboradores, la participación de los padres, y la existencia de la figura del asistente educativo o maestro que actúe de enlace con la familia.

  The paper addresses the role of the teacher, the person responsible for introducing reading and written language, on children�s language development. The teacher must create an adequate atmosphere through linguistic stimulation so that the child enjoys reading and writing. Its it therefore necessary to carry out language intervention, defining linguistic targets, and carrying them out. Language programmes must complete classroom activity and not substitute it. They must also be adapted to the school rhythm. The teacher, with the adequate training, must plan this process through observing the child�s language development, which may also be stimulated through increased periods of language interaction with adults. In this respect, the paper proposes the voluntary participation of collaborating adults, underlining the importance of parental involvement, and the need to establish a school-home liason figure
