The author deals with the connection between the rhetorical operations inventio and dispositio as well as between semantic and syntax in the production of discourse. Inventio is primarily semantic and secondarily syntactic, and dispositio is primarily syntactic and secondarily semantic. In this theoretical framework, the partes orationis, which concern inventio and dispositio, are a structure semantically and syntactically organized within the basic relationship of extension and intension through the process of intensionalization. This connection is one of the most important foundations of rhetorical text and of literary text as constructions in which the world is linguistically represented.
