Resumen de Justicia, caridad y solidaridad en la DSI

El Magisterio social de las últimas décadas ha sido criticado por un supuesto giro destinado a alejar a la Iglesia del compromiso por la justicia y a confinarla en el ámbito de la solidaridad y la caridad como respuestas estrictamente voluntarias y gratuitas. A partir de la consideración de la relación entre justicia y caridad en la Suma Teológica, este trabajo pretende mostrar que en la DSI estos principios se vinculan entre sí según dos modelos complementarios: el de la compenetración, por el cual la solidaridad y la caridad informan la justicia, y el de la distinción, por la cual se complementan entre sí como lo estrictamente debido y lo que se da gratuitamente. Esta clave de interpretación podría prevenir muchas sospechas infundadas sobre la orientación del Magisterio en los temas sociales.

The Social Teaching of the last decades has been criticized due to a so called “shift” aimed at moving the Church away from its commitment to justice and confining it to the realm of solidarity and charity, understood as strictly voluntary, free activity. Beginning with the relationship between justice and charity in the Summa Theologiae, this article contends that these principles are connected according to two complementary models: the model of interlinking, where solidarity and charity shape justice, and the model of distinction, where they complement each other in terms of what is strictly owed and what is given freely. This interpretive key may prevent many unfounded suspicions about the orientation of Catholic Teaching in social issues.
